Bagel Joy originated in 2020 when David and Caleb Picard began experimenting with recipes for authentic hand-rolled and boiled bagels. Their Centreville and Fredericksburg kitchens were quickly overwhelmed with bagels as free test batches found their way to neighbors, with a request to pay it forward by donating time or hours to a local food bank.
2021 began with Bagel Joy making their first retail sales, offering local pick-up and a booth at the One Loudoun farmers’ market. Their presence in Northern Virginia expanded over the next three years with booth appearances in Fairfax, Great Falls, Manassas, Brambleton, and Washington DC.
In 2024 Bagel Joy took a major leap forward with a decision to renovate the former Bagel Buddies location in Fair Lakes Shopping Center. After three years of working for the weekends (literally), April will kick off a new routine of everyday bagels, spreads, and sandwiches.
